During the period of automobile transformation, various sub-sectors were in the ascendant and dominated. New technologies and new products are emerging one after another. The chain of industrial chains has become longer, and the division of labor in the industrial chain has become blurred. Travel companies such as Didi have to develop autopilot technology, and may have to build a car or control a car company; car companies must also develop autopilot technology, but also layout travel; Internet companies are all related, unmanned rental Car, Tier1, Tier0.5, Tier2. The industry has no boundaries, and business operations must have boundaries. The most clear boundary is probably the traditional Tier1. Moreover, from the past situation, whether mobile travel is a bubble, whether autonomous driving is a bubble, whether the new car companies will be completely annihilated, the status of Tier1 with core technology seems to be the most stable: enter the attack, Retreat and defend, and control his future floods and the bubble burst.

For these reasons, Tier1 is the focus of the autopilot industry: Waymo commissioned Magna to assist in integrating the autopilot system into the vehicle; Lyft and Magna collaborate in the development of autonomous driving technology; Le and Bosch strategic cooperation, research and development of automatic driving technology; Tier2 need to introduce their products into the whole vehicle through Tier1; as for domestic car companies, the dependence on Bosch, the mainland, etc. need not be said. Moreover, in this complex and ever-changing competitive relationship, it is difficult for companies to threaten the Tier1 business, except for a few strong and ambitious car companies.

There are also many participants in car network security: car companies, travel companies, Internet companies, cloud companies, communications companies, semiconductor companies, OTA companies, tool chain companies, and various parts companies.

This time, Tier1 may still be in the most advantageous position.

First: For most car companies, they may not be willing to invest too much in network security.

For car companies, the core starting point of a self-developed system or product is to enhance the core competitiveness of the company, directly or indirectly helping to sell more cars. Therefore, the two basic principles of self-developed products or systems are: 1. Self-study has lower supply costs than suppliers. 2. Self-research can form the differentiation of consumer identity. For network security, car companies are harder to supply than suppliers. Moreover, it is difficult for car companies to convince consumers to pay for network security. In summary, in terms of network security, car companies have a high probability that they will not compete with Tier1. Regardless of whether the policy is mandatory in the future, or if there is a sense of responsibility, the car company will give most of the network security related work to professional suppliers.

Second: Network security involves too many product lines, and it is difficult to bypass Tier1. And there must be multiple levels of close cooperation between the various product lines.

The product lines involved in automotive network security include: OBD, T-Box, instrumentation, vehicle, gateway, millimeter wave radar, camera, laser radar, ultrasonic radar, cloud platform, chip, EE architecture and various bus protocols, various types Operating system and APP, V2X communication, short-range communication (Bluetooth, wifi, RFID, ZigBee, NFC).

These nodes are all likely to be attacked, and network security is following the barrel effect. Therefore, building an integrated three-dimensional defense system will be an inevitable trend to ensure the development of network security. That is to establish a hierarchical defense defense system, build a multi-level and multi-domain covering product design, R&D, testing and release lifecycle, covering intelligent networked cars, mobile intelligent terminals, car networking service platforms and various types of network communication. The protection system integrates security grading, access control, encryption technology and intrusion detection technology to achieve full coverage of security protection technology.

Really want to build this three-dimensional deep defense system, in any case, it is not the depth of Tier1. Of course, Tier1 are not stupid. Since they have already taken up so many products, can this be done by myself?
